About the team you are joining
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the trade association for the world’s airlines, representing some 360 airlines or 80% of total air traffic. We support many areas of aviation activity and help formulate industry policy on critical aviation issues.
IATA’s Brussels office is looking for a dynamic, highly organized, and politically savvy trainee to support our advocacy efforts and high-level event programming. This role offers a unique "behind-the-scenes" look at how the aviation industry engages with the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the Council.
A key aspect of this internship will focus on the strategic coordination of events hosted by Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). You will be the glue that holds our panel discussions and industry briefings together, working with MEP offices and partner associations.
What your day would be like
Learning through event coordination by acting as the contact point for events hosted by MEPS;
Supporting the team through hands on coordination of logistics and panel discussions, including speaker liaison and briefing document preparation;
Under the guidance of your mentor, working closely with partner associations and MEP offices to deliver joint initiatives smoothly;
Monitoring legislative developments within EU
institutions and learning how EU policymaking works in practice;
Assisting experts in drafting meeting requests and sending
meeting requests to policymakers and advisors;
Helping the team by gathering data and evidence to support IATA’s positions on key files (e.g., Decarbonization/Fit for 55, Passenger Rights, Air Services Regulation, etc.);
Participate in drafting reports, meeting minutes, and newsletters for internal
distribution;
Backing the team by maintaining and updating stakeholder databases.
We would love to hear from you if you have
A recent University degree in European Studies, Political Science, Law, or Communications;
A solid understanding of the EU legislative process (Ordinary Legislative Procedure), and interest in aviation issues;
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask under tight deadlines;
An excellent written and spoken English. Proficiency in other EU languages is a strong asset;
A proactive "can-do" attitude, comfortable reaching out to external partners and working in a multicultural environment.
