What's the Role About?
We are looking for a highly competent and detail-oriented Tax professional to ensure the timely and accurate filing of tax returns, reports, and other compliance requirements of Philippine Airlines (PAL) both in the Philippines and across multiple international jurisdictions.
This role is responsible for overseeing the accurate recording and accounting of PAL’s taxes, ensuring full compliance with local and foreign regulations, and supporting strategic tax initiatives that optimize tax savings while maintaining the highest standards of governance, safety, and security compliance.
Major Responsibilities
Philippine Tax Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate filing and payment (if applicable) of: Income Tax Returns (annual & quarterly); VAT Returns (monthly & quarterly); Withholding Tax Returns – Compensation, Expanded, Final, VAT & Percentage (monthly & annual); Documentary Stamp Tax (monthly); Excise Tax – Petroleum & Tobacco (monthly); etc.
International Tax Compliance
- Ensure accurate and timely filing and payment (if applicable) of tax returns in the following jurisdictions:
- Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, New Zealand, Australia, Qatar, Kuwait, etc.
(Including but not limited to income tax, VAT/GST, business taxes, fuel tax refunds, petroleum business tax, FBT, PAYG, and other country-specific compliance requirements.)
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) requirements, including annual registration of PAL Head Office and Ticket/Cargo Offices, annual registration of Books of Accounts, registration of the Computerized Accounting System, and adherence to new regulations issued by the BIR.
Tax Advisory & Audit Support
- Provide management with relevant tax updates that may impact PAL and actively participate in developing strategies to maximize tax savings. Assist tax consultants in BIR audit requirements and documentation for cases filed with the Court of Tax Appeals. Review and monitor balance sheet accounts and general ledger movements assigned to the Division to ensure balances are accurate and complete. Prepare monthly analyses and account schedules and submit audit requirements to external auditors in a timely manner.
Governance, Safety & Security Compliance
- Comply with all applicable regulations and company standards.
- Actively support PAL’s Safety Management System (SMS).
- Contribute to and continuously improve the Security Management System (SeMS).
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the AVP – Financial Analysis and Tax Services Sub-department.
Who Are We Looking For?
- Must be a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy
- Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Must have prior experience in managerial roles and have handled a team.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in tax compliance and accounting.
- Must have exposure to different tax regimes and treaties across various countries.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
