Astronics AES is seeking a passionate and driven Electrical Engineer to join our Airborne Power Control (APC) Product Team in Kirkland, WA. This position provides a unique opportunity to engage at the forefront of aviation innovation, contributing to the design and development of advanced electrical systems serving fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and cutting-edge eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) applications.
This role is primarily on-site, but we value flexibility and allow occasional remote work based on project requirements.
Job Summary
As an Electrical Engineer on our team, you will be integral to the design, analysis, and documentation of circuits and circuit card assemblies (CCAs). You will play a key role in supporting new product development, contracted programs, and internal research and development initiatives, with a focus on power electronics—including power distribution, power generation, power conversion, and motor control. This role is well-suited for a proactive professional who thrives working collaboratively in a team environment while also excelling independently on initiatives of moderate scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Design innovative power electronics for flight and safety-critical systems operating in demanding airborne environments.
- Conduct conceptual and detailed design of analog and digital circuits.
- Analyze designs, simulate performance, and collect and evaluate test data to ensure design accuracy and reliability.
- Participate in all phases of product development, including analysis, design, development, and qualification.
- Present technical concepts and progress during design reviews to cross-functional teams.
- Use standard lab equipment to verify designs and perform circuit testing.
- Serve as a technical liaison, collaborating with other functional groups to resolve complex challenges.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution.
Experience:
- At least 1 year of direct experience in relevant areas, particularly power electronics, power supply design, motor control, and analog design.
Eligibility Requirements
- ITAR Compliance: As a U.S. Department of Defense contractor, candidates must meet ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) requirements, meaning you must be a U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
- Background Check & Drug Screening: Employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background check and a drug test (including screening for cannabis).
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $79,293 - $118,940 annually (midpoint: $99,117).
Final salary will be determined based on qualifications, certifications, and market conditions, with most new hires starting closer to the midpoint.
