The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of Sky Café’s local base operations. This role requires strong business acumen, operational expertise, and a hands-on leadership approach with a steadfast commitment to safety, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
- Promote and exemplify company core values, ensuring alignment and accountability across all levels of the operation
- Foster a strong Safety-First culture, ensuring safety is embedded in all operational decisions
- Lead employee engagement initiatives and conduct regular leadership and team meetings
- Develop, mentor, and retain leadership talent, including succession planning
- Identify high-potential employees and support ongoing growth and development
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure a safe, secure, and compliant work environment for all employees
- Actively participate in and support the Safety Management System (SMS)
- Conduct operational and safety briefings as required
- Ensure all safety incidents are reported and distributed within three (3) hours of occurrence
- Ensure all required training and certifications are completed and maintained to company standards
- Perform audits to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Financial & Operational Management
- Prepare and deliver monthly forecasts for flight activity and base-level expenses
- Manage financial performance to meet or exceed budgeted targets and profitability goals
- Participate in annual budget planning and preparation
- Monitor Daily Labor Percentage (DLP) and revenue performance, adjusting operations as needed
- Manage airline and company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Prepare and present financial and operational metrics on a regular basis
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all airline and base contracts to maximize revenue opportunities
Customer & Client Relations
- Serve as the primary representative for the base in Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with airline customers
- Participate in Requests for Proposals (RFPs) related to the station
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with airline customers through regular engagement
- Attend weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly customer meetings as required
Operational Oversight
- Ensure compliance with uniform, appearance, and PPE standards
- Delegate responsibilities effectively and ensure timely execution
- Perform operational duties as needed to support business continuity
- Travel periodically to other locations to provide leadership support and guidance
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Exposure to varying temperatures and elevated noise levels
- May be required to work in refrigerated environments (approximately 39°F / 4°C) for extended periods
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly
- Frequent standing, bending, and lifting throughout shifts
- Ability to work at heights of up to 25 feet or more, depending on aircraft type
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Requirements
- 5–10 years of progressive leadership experience
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required airport security credentials
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Vehicle Operator Permit (AVOP), if required
- Ability to operate required equipment, including forklifts, high-lift trucks, and catering vehicles
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and variable schedules
- Ability to meet operational timeframes and business demands
- Successful completion of all airline and company-required training and recertification programs
- Ability to travel as required
