Role: Regional Medical Officer
The role requires an MBBS with DGCA Class II Medical Examiner empanelment, strong leadership skills, regulatory compliance knowledge, and the ability to manage both people and processes. This individual will be responsible for leading the regional medical team and ensuring compliance with DGCA regulations, as well as managing operational and logistical functions effectively.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in regulatory compliance, manpower management, logistics, medical consultation, and training in a similar aviation or medical environment is highly preferred.
- Empaneled DGCA Class II medical examiner.
Educational Requirements
- MBBS (Medical Degree) with a Valid medical license to practice in India.
Skill Set
- Leadership, effective communication, knowledge of DGCA CAR, organizational and logistics skills, training capabilities, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Job Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Breathalyzer Testing: Oversee and ensure that breathalyzer testing is conducted according to DGCA guidelines.
- Certification of Medical Kits: Ensure that the First Aid Kit (FAK), Medical Kit (MK), and Universal Precaution Kit (UPK) are certified and compliant with regulations.
- Audits Management: Prepare and report on audits, both DGCA and internal audits, ensuring compliance at all levels.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with DGCA Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR), protocols, and company policies, and maintain DGCA Class II medical examiner status.
- Manpower Management:
- Base Paramedic Operations: Manage base paramedic requirements, including duty rosters, daily operations, and leave management.
- Ensure that suitable leave relievers are available to meet DGCA compliance requirements, ensuring operational continuity.
- Administrative/Logistic Management:
- Stock Oversight: Oversee the stock of daily-use items (e.g., tubes, batteries, medicines, stationery) and ensure timely availability.
- Equipment Supervision: Supervise the serviceability of equipment like CCTV, BA machines, UV boxes, etc.
- Stock Management: Raise proper indents to ensure timely stock availability.
- BA Room Maintenance: Supervise the upkeep of BA rooms to ensure they meet operational standards.
- Medical Consultation:
- Crew Sickness and Fitness: Conduct medical assessments and verify crew sickness and fitness in accordance with DGCA norms.
- Staff and Passenger Consultation: Provide medical consultations to staff and passengers as needed.
- Passenger Medical Clearance (MEDA): Expedite passenger clearances as per IATA and company policies.
- Cabin Crew Medicals: Conduct initial and renewal medical exams for cabin crew members in compliance with DGCA Class II medical guidelines.
- Pilot Medical Reports: Verify the correctness of documents and reports related to pilot medical examinations.
- Training Role:
- First Aid & Occupational Health Training: Conduct training sessions on first aid and occupational health topics for IndiGo employees.
- BA Testing Training: Provide training to new doctors and paramedics on BA testing.
- Periodic BA Testing Training: Periodically train existing doctors and paramedics on BA testing within the region.
