Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (7+ years) specializing in Data Integration & Backend Services responsible for designing and maintaining scalable backend systems that power financial data flows, investor reporting, and fund operations across enterprise platforms. (Hybrid, New York)
Must Have Skills
- Python and/or Java – Strong experience building production-grade backend services (7+ years preferred)
- SQL – Advanced analytical queries, performance tuning, multi-database experience (Snowflake, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, or similar) (7+ years)
- Event-Driven Architecture Experience – Kafka, Azure EventHub, or equivalent messaging systems (5+ years)
- Cloud Platforms (Azure preferred) – Secrets management, blob storage, identity management, CI/CD pipelines (5+ years)
- REST and GraphQL API Development – Designing, building, and maintaining reliable APIs (5+ years)
- AI-Assisted Development Tools – Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT for code writing, debugging, reviewing, and testing
Nice to Have Skills
- Financial services, fund administration, or investor operations experience
- ETL/ELT data pipeline development and maintenance
- CRM integrations (Salesforce or similar)
- Redis, GraphQL, Avro serialization, schema registry patterns
- Containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM templates, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and enhance backend services orchestrating enterprise-scale data flows
- Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries across large data warehouses
- Develop and manage event-driven integrations using messaging systems
- Design and deliver REST and GraphQL APIs for downstream systems
- Improve system observability, data quality, resiliency, and operational reliability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, operations, and engineering teams
- Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions
- Support production systems ensuring data accuracy and downstream integrity
