About the team you are joining
IATA
is the trade association for the world’s airlines, representing over 320
airlines across 120 countries. Our members comprise 83% of total air traffic. IATA’s mission is to represent, lead,
and serve the airline industry. IATA operates over 50 offices and 7
regional offices across the world.
We
are embarking on a continuous improvement and digital transformation journey. The
BORA (meaning “better” in Swahili) program aims at delivering a new ERP
solution for IATA that will enable Corporate Services to deliver on their
fiduciary responsibilities as well as deliver more value to the business.
The Senior Manager, Business Systems Standards is
responsible for defining the standards that will guide IATA’s future ERP and
related business systems. The role ensures that system design aligns with
business processes, supports consistency and compliance, and enables seamless
integration across the wider systems ecosystem. Working closely with Global
Process Owners and in partnership with the I&D team, this role drives
business‑owned process governance throughout the ERP transformation. While the
role leads to the definition of business standards, I&D remains accountable
for technical architecture, integration, and system delivery.
The
role reports to the CS Transformation Lead.
What your day would be like
·Serve as the key liaison between the BORA Transformation team, Global Process Owners (GPOs), and the Information & Data (I&D) team to ensure strong alignment between business needs, process design, and system standards
·Drive the redesign of business rules to ensure the new ERP and related business systems operate in a clear, consistent, and scalable manner.
·Define target system standards — including master data structures, hierarchies, values, and configuration guardrails — to simplify complexity and ensure alignment across functions.
·Work with Global Process Owners (GPOs) to translate future‑state business processes into system requirements and ensure master data supports critical workflows.
·Document the future‑state systems standards framework to support the ERP and System Integrator (SI) RFP, and guide system design, configuration, testing, and business readiness.
·Secure alignment and support for system standards by engaging Global Process Owners, Information & Data teams (I&D), and business departments.
·Coordinate business activities related to master data cleansing, transformation rules, migration readiness, and integration considerations from a business perspective.
·Ensure functional and process alignment between the ERP and other IATA business systems, collaborating with I&D to support integration while maintaining business ownership of standards.
·Protect the program from unnecessary customization by enforcing system guardrails and standard design principles.
·Coordinate with vendors, IT, and technical SMEs to ensure system decisions follow business standards and architectural guardrails.
· Participate in governance forums, including the Data Stewardship Working Group, and report progress to the BORA Transformation Lead.
