Job Purpose
To implement, monitor and maintain the “Air Arabia Safety Management System” in the respective areas of operation. He/she shall manage the Company’s mandatory and voluntary “Safety Reports” ensuring the investigations and closure reports are timely and accurately executed in line with the Civil Aviation regulations and requirements and as per Air Arabia adopted policies and procedures. On a temporary basis, assumes duties and responsibilities of Flight Data Specialist as and when required. Assists the line manager in implementing and monitoring adherence to safety and operational risk management procedures and standards to minimize risks and threats. Poor performance of this role might lead to regulatory non-compliance and safety findings, potential delay or cancellation in operations, and to customer dissatisfaction, all resulting in loss and negative corporate image.
Key Result Responsibilities
- Reviews the HUB SMS manual yearly, with respect to the changes in regulations or company policies related to SMS. Keeps a routine track of the CAA website to capture and reflect any changes in the SMS requirements.
- Ensures the safety policy is revised every two years, Distributes the revised safety policy with the internal as well as external stakeholders and maintains the record.
- Conducts timely action on the IQSMS reports, and liaisons with all operational departments till closure of the reports on IQSMS and maintains the IQSMS database.
- Ensure all safety reports are checked daily, processed and timely actions are taken for closure.
- Initiate / Conduct necessary investigation on significant events related to Engineering, Maintenance and Operation and ensure implementation of related safety recommendations.
- Ensure relevant hazards and risks are included in the Risk Register for analysis for effectiveness of the controls.
- Updates the risk register based on IQSMS reports, FDM events, hazards identified in MOC/ SRM reports, internal occurrences/ events, internal audit/ inspection findings external sources, CAA safety alerts/investigation reports etc.
- Ensures timely reporting of occurrences on CAA Reporting of ODRs.
- Prepares for and facilitates the quarterly SAG meetings with operational departments (With presentations, minuting the meetings and closure reports for the recommended actions to be taken).
- Prepares for and facilitates the biannual SRB meetings (With presentation, minuting the meeting and closure reports for the recommended actions to be taken).
- Organizes for and facilitates the Fatigue SAG meetings (Minuting the meeting and closure reports for the recommended actions to be taken).
- Initiates and facilitates the MOC (Management of Change) and SRA process and collects the evidence for the controls and mitigating actions.
- Prepares and maintain up to date the Safety plan and related SPIs.
- Timely submission of SPM reports to Head of Depts for review and acceptance / approval.
- Guarantees timely revision of the safety plan in terms of SPI’s and SPT’s. Prepares monthly analysis report for the Safety Performance Indicators (SPI).
- Facilitates and provides the safety checklist for the audits/ inspections done by quality highlighting any safety concern and maintain the records.
- Assists in preparing the periodic safety newsletters/ bulletins/ alerts and ensure dissemination of the same to the operational personnel.
- Facilitates CAA, internal and external SMS audits till closure of the findings/ observations.
- Plans, organizes, facilitates and participates in safety surveys(online), walk & talk sessions and inspections.
- Yearly Review of the SMS Training and revise the SMS training. Timely action on the SMS training failure cases; debriefs non-management employees, reviews the answers, diagnoses the problem, providing action points for them.
- Prepares and facilitates internal audits, (IOSA) and external SMS audits.
- Review and revision of the HUB IPDs and MAC Safety Plan.
- Maintains all records pertaining to SMS.

Qualifications (Academic, Training, Languages)
- Aeronautical Engineering or Licensed Aircraft E
- A bachelor’s degree in organizational/risk management or equivalent from a recognized university or institute; Or a Diploma or certificate in the related field combined with needed experience and exposure is desirable.
- Must have completed “Safety Management Systems” training.
- “Safety Investigation” training is a plus.
Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the Airlines/Aviation industry
- A minimum of 1 years in the “Safety Department” in a similar capacity is required for this role.
