The
Principal Analyst (1x Commercial Strategy & 1x Network Planning) roles turn big, complex problems into clear decisions that move the business. You’ll build sharp business cases, model and scenario‑plan at pace, and turn insight into action for senior leaders. Working across Pricing, Revenue, Sales, Alliances, Operations and Finance, you’ll balance demand, cost and operational reality, then close the loop by reviewing what landed and continuously lifting how we plan and decide.

Principal Analyst, Commercial Strategy
You’ll sit at the centre of high‑stakes commercial decisions, shaping long‑term network and fleet strategy with rigorous analysis and clear judgement. You’ll own and continuously improve our planning toolkit, including Sabre Profit Manager, turning complex economics into sharp, confident recommendations for senior leaders. This role is about influence and impact — building compelling business cases, stress‑testing scenarios, and delivering decision‑ready insights that directly shape how Qantas plans, invests and grows.
Principal Analyst, Network Planning
You’ll play a hands‑on role in shaping how the airline operates day to day and long term, optimising a portfolio of routes through smart decisions on capacity, aircraft and timing. You’ll run fast‑paced scenarios, own a pipeline of profit‑improvement initiatives, and drive outcomes end‑to‑end. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you’ll constantly review performance, refine decisions, and turn insight into action that keeps the network competitive and resilient.
You’ll have
- Degree in a quantitative or analytical field (e.g. Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Aviation, Business or similar).
- 2–5 years’ experience in analytical or commercial roles (consulting, aviation/transport, finance, strategy or data); scope adjusted for more experienced candidates.
- Clear, confident communicator who is detail‑focused, resilient and decisive.
- Highly collaborative and comfortable working at pace and in ambiguity.
- Strong commercial analytics skills with hands‑on forecasting and scenario modelling.
- Solid understanding of demand, yield and core P&L levers.
- Ability to simplify complexity, build strong business cases and link insights to market and macro drivers.
- Advanced Excel and Power BI skills; experience with Sabre Profit Manager, AirVision or QSI/Logit highly regarded; airline experience desirable but not essential
