This role is a leadership role in the Financial Control team responsible for the accounting, reporting and compliance of the Qantas Group's fixed assets portfolio. As
Financial Controller – Fixed Assets, you will oversee end-to-end asset accounting including capitalisation, depreciation, impairment and disposals, ensuring accuracy and integrity across the fixed assets ledger.
You will lead, support and advise key senior Finance and operational stakeholders across the business on fixed assets accounting policy, financial compliance and the continuous improvement of fixed assets processes and controls. Working closely with the Head of Financial Control, you will act as the primary point of contact for business units, project teams and external auditors on all fixed assets matters, driving collaboration and consistency across finance teams.
The role requires sound judgement, deep technical expertise in relevant accounting standards, and the ability to lead a skilled and high performing team.
You’ll Have
- Chartered Accountant or CPA qualification
- Previous experience in a similar financial controlling or technical accounting role in a large and complex organisation
- Strong technical knowledge of fixed assets accounting standards, including capitalisation policies, depreciation methodologies and impairment assessments
- Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills with sound technical abilities in budgeting, forecasting and forming insightful analysis
- Demonstrated experience with Alteryx and Power BI will be highly regarded
- Analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a diverse group of stakeholders using key metrics and analysis
- Significant stakeholder management experience with the ability to influence positive outcomes at a senior level
- Strong people management and coaching skills with demonstrated success leading teams to success
- Ability to take ownership of the fixed assets ledger and drive accuracy and compliance outcomes
- Demonstrated experience in partnering, influencing and challenging multiple senior stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail
- Advanced knowledge of accounting standards and principles
