Position Overview:
As a Senior Safety & Reliability Engineer, you will utilize your expertise in Safety and Reliability (S&R) to influence architecture design and support the development of safety-critical aerospace electronic systems. You'll work in adherence to DO-254 and DO-178 processes and have the exciting opportunity to analyze, mitigate, and ensure system reliability. Your role will directly impact cutting-edge programs, proposals, and R&D efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Functional Hazard Analysis through System Safety Assessments, including Fault Tree Analysis and Common Cause Analysis, ensuring traceability to FMEA processes.
- Apply Reliability and Maintainability principles to assess and develop aerospace electronic systems in accordance with DO-254 and DO-178 standards for IDALs A, B, or C.
- Develop and execute Safety & Reliability Program Plans, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and Bent Pin Analysis.
- Utilize software tools such as Windchill/Relex and apply methodologies like 217Plus and EPRD/NPRD for reliability predictions.
- Analyze schematic diagrams and partition circuits into functional blocks to identify failure modes and implications.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of safety frameworks including ARP-4761 for Commercial applications and MIL-STD-882E for Military applications.
- Contribute to the development of Fault Insertion Test (FIT) and reliability substantiation strategies.
- Lead discussions with customers to analyze, negotiate, and satisfy safety requirements, ensuring these are integrated and communicated effectively to all necessary stakeholders.
- Provide support for testing, design reviews, and team presentations by preparing clear and comprehensive analysis and materials.
- Deliver quality results on time and within budget while adhering to company processes and standards.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related field).
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Safety & Reliability Engineering, preferably in the Aerospace industry.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Ability to interpret detailed schematic diagrams, and partition circuits into functional blocks.
- Proficiency with software tools like Windchill/Relex and 217Plus.
- Experience with System Safety processes, including ARP-4761A for Commercial systems and MIL-STD-882E for Military systems (knowledge of ISO 26262 for Automotive Safety is a plus).
- Strong understanding of risk assessment strategies, including FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and reliability modeling.
Additional Requirements:
- As a U.S. Department of Defense Contractor, applicants must meet ITAR eligibility requirements (U.S. Person status is required).
- Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment background check and drug test (including cannabis screening).
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $102,687 - $154,031 per year. (Mid-point: $128,359)
Factors such as experience, certifications, and market conditions will help determine your actual salary, with most new hires positioned closer to the midpoint.
