Position Summary
Summary
As the Stress Engineer, you will provide dedicated support to the UK composites team involved in the development and manufacture of complex composite aerostructures. Working under the direction of the Mechanical Design Team Leader, you will be responsible for a broad range of analysis and reporting activities.

- Stress analysis of composite components using FEA software such as Hyperworks ,NASTRAN / PATRAN, ANSYS or similar.
- Knowledge of aerospace stressing methodologies for metallic and composite components and competent report writing.
- Selection, oversight and management of external sub-contractors where required to support analysis activity.
- Technical liaison/presentations with customer to support Design Review deliverables.
- Performs value analysis during the product design phase while optimising product development costs. Provides technical support for new projects and evaluates the requirements and implications.
- Maintain project files and appropriate records of work.
- Reduces costs and improves mechanical design and development processes, using best practices and professional knowledge.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will have a proven industry/similar experience in the stress analysis of composite structures and have knowledge of aerospace stressing methodologies for metallic and composite components.
Preferred additional experience:
- Experience of dynamic / non-linear stress analysis.
- Experience of F&DT analysis of metallic and composite structures.
- Proficient in the use of CATIA V5.
- Familiar with military and civil certification requirements for primary aerospace structures.
- The generation of detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques for fibre reinforced plastic and thermoplastic materials.
