The Accounts Payable Process Analyst is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of accounts payable processes within the Ariba Invoice Management and SAP systems, including functional support for the relish and Smartdoc invoice processing applications. This role ensures operational excellence, system integrity, and cross-functional alignment to support accurate financial reporting and efficient AP operations.
Responsibilities:
Process Leadership
- Design, implement, and refine best practices for Ariba and SAP Accounts Payable (including Relish and Smartdoc) workflows to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation and training materials to support scalable AP operations.
- Collaborate with internal departments (Tax, Customer Relations, Baggage Claims, Refunds, Procurement, Treasury) to align AP processes with business needs and regulatory requirements.
- Lead initiatives to ensure compliance with 52-109 documentation standards and proactively address internal control gaps.
- Review and validate journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure financial integrity.
- Serve as acting Manager, Accounts Payable when required, providing leadership and continuity.
Systems Optimization & Application Support
- Conduct business process analysis and translate requirements into system enhancements and configurations.
- Monitor and optimize system performance to ensure AP processes function reliably and efficiently.
- Develop and deliver ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and data extracts to support decision-making and performance tracking.
- Support internal and external audits by providing system documentation and technical insights.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data interface issues, ensuring seamless integration between Ariba modules and SAP.
Change Management & Continuous Improvement
- Lead the identification, prioritization, and execution of change requests for Ariba and SAP AP systems.
- Develop business cases and financial justifications for system enhancements and process improvements.
- Partner with Ariba Support to implement upgrades, releases, and new functionalities.
- Oversee testing, documentation, and user training to ensure successful adoption of changes.
- Promote awareness of system updates and audit requirements across user groups.
Incident & Service Management
- Act as the functional lead for incident resolution, coordinating with Air Canada’s AMS provider and Ariba support teams.
- Manage service tickets, escalate issues appropriately, and ensure timely resolution.
- Champion problem management practices to prevent recurring issues and improve service quality.
- Provide after-hours support as needed to accommodate global operations.
Qualifications
- Completion of CPA coursework in Introductory Financial Accounting and Intermediate Financial Reporting 1 (asset).
- Proven experience in Accounts Payable operations and process optimization (asset).
- Hands-on experience with Ariba and SAP systems (asset).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment
