As a Product Owner you will be is responsible for maximizing the business value in software products delivered by Agile Scrum Teams.
The PO has a strong technical and operational understanding of the product and, as this is primarily an ‘internal facing’ role, they work closely with their Product Manager to gain a clear understanding of the business problems customers need the product to solve, as well as the vision and strategic direction of the overall portfolio.
Furthermore, the Product Owner will usually drive the ‘Design Partner’ process whereby a small number of selected SITA customers are provided with incremental software updates throughout the development process of a new release. All requests for work to be performed by the Scrum Team are channeled through and prioritized by the Product Owner.
This product owner role is specific to Transit & Voice product. SITA Transit is a dynamic, media-rich passenger information display system supporting the seamless flow of passengers through a transit (train or bus) facility. It maximizes investment by utilizing screen space and improving the overall messaging to passengers and operations. Using combined graphical, video and textual information, SITA Transit can be customized to the customer’s specific needs. SITA Transit can target advertising at passengers and communicate local community messaging in multiple languages. It also allows transit authorities to incorporate advertising on passenger information display systems with dedicated advertising displays.
Reporting to the Senior Product Owner you will be a part of the Airport Operations portfolio and will be based in Letterkenny location.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Fundamentally understands our customers’ business and the outcomes they want us to deliver. Works with the Product Manager to shape the Portfolio Vision.
• Responsible for the end to end delivery of the product and as such is supporting the transition by ensuring that the scope of his/her delivery includes the tasks required to ensure the operability of the final solution.
• Owns the Product Vision in collaboration with the Product Manager and manages the Product Backlog.
• Populates the Product Backlog with artifacts that provides the next level of detail to support the delivery of the product road map as defined with the Product Manager. Specifies Functional requirements, Non‐Functional Requirements & Acceptance Criteria.
• Responsible for discussing the features of the product and supporting the functional analysis of the backlog and call out priorities of the roadmap. Knows the costs of a delivery (project or release) in the details and in real-time.
• Defines PI or Release time-boxes. Defines MVP for a release.
• Works with the Scrum Team to define Sprint goals. Attends Scrum team Daily Stand-ups. Attends Sprint Planning, clarifies requirements for the team. Attends demos from the team showing their work.
• Accepts (or rejects) the team’s work during the sprint and at the End of Sprint Review. Demos the teams (accepted) work to the wider SITA community & customers.
• Runs the UX Design Partner Program. Demos early versions to customers.
• Reviews and approves proposed SOW’s with GEO teams before these are presented to the customer. Is co-located with their Scrum Team(s). Defines PI or Release time‐boxes. Defines MVP for a releases.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in a significant product owner function.
- Experience in Air Transport Industry highly desirable.
- Business / Engineering / Science related qualification to at least Bachelor’s Degree level typically. Other Degree level backgrounds considered.
- Experience of working with and across multiple agile scrum teams.
- Experience of working directly with customers.
- Practical experience of running a customer design partnership program
- A proactive, dynamic and positive attitude.
- You like to work well within teams.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
