Johnson Service Group is looking for an Assistant Civil Engineer for a client in San Jose. This person will provide engineering support to Project Managers on watershed rehabilitation projects by assisting with field investigations, data collection and analysis, and technical work in AutoCAD, GIS, and civil engineering design during planning, design, and construction phases.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to Project Managers during planning, design, and construction phases of watershed rehabilitation projects
- Conduct field reconnaissance and assist with site assessments
- Perform preliminary and design-level data collection and analysis
- Support hydraulic, geotechnical, and structural evaluations
- Assist with preparation and review of engineering plans, specifications, and reports
- Utilize AutoCAD for drafting and plan updates
- Support GIS-based mapping and spatial analysis efforts
- Document field data and maintain accurate project records
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely completion of deliverables
Qualifications
- Understanding of fundamental civil engineering principles, including hydraulics/hydrology, geotechnical, and structural analysis
- Familiarity with engineering design standards, plans, and specifications
- Experience or coursework in AutoCAD for drafting and plan review
- Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Minimum Qualifications for level 1
Education/Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
OR
- Valid California EIT Certificate with 2 years of paraprofessional engineering experience
Experience
License
- Valid California driver’s license
