Our client is seeking a
Senior Project Manager to lead technology and business process initiatives to enhance software application systems, support regulatory compliance, and improve project delivery within a Project Management Office environment.
Must Have skills
- 8+ years of experience leading and directing complex project portfolios in a technical applications environment for business software tools
- Proven project management expertise in scope, schedule, resource, risk, stakeholder, and communication management
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience driving business process change and continuous process improvement
- Experience with regulatory or compliance-driven projects
- Utility industry experience
- Experience leading projects involving multiple business units and internal and external stakeholders
Nice to Have skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
- Experience delivering technology upgrade, software development, or system enhancement projects
- Knowledge of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System market
Responsibilities
- Confirm project scope with customers and gather all required project information
- Establish project scope, schedule, resource, and communication requirements
- Identify, engage, and manage required stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
- Develop and maintain comprehensive risk management plans and risk registers, including project interdependencies
- Direct and oversee project execution activities to ensure successful delivery
- Ensure high-quality standards are met for all project deliverables
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding input, decisions, status, and updates
- Manage project priorities and ensure alignment with delivery process checkpoint gates
- Identify, escalate, and proactively resolve project issues and resource conflicts
- Ensure project delivery complies with applicable legislation, regulations, and governing rules
- Validate project progress, outcomes, scope, and schedule changes
- Maintain accurate and current records of status, timelines, ownership, and results
- Control project communications with internal and external stakeholders
- Report progress, risks, and critical updates to program leadership
- Complete project close-out activities in accordance with established processes
- Contribute to project delivery improvements in partnership with the Program Support Team
