Overview:
The MPS and SIOP Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) processes within the aerospace company. This role ensures that production plans align with sales forecasts, inventory targets, and capacity constraints to meet customer demands while optimizing resources and costs.

Job responsibilities:
- Master Production Scheduling (MPS):Develop, maintain, and adjust the Master Production Schedule to ensure alignment with customer orders, sales forecasts, and inventory policies.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, procurement, and quality teams to ensure accurate and achievable schedules.
- Monitor and analyze production capacity and resource utilization to ensure effective scheduling and resource allocation.
- Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts and bottlenecks to maintain production flow and meet delivery commitments.
- Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP):Lead the SIOP process, ensuring cross-functional collaboration to develop integrated plans that balance supply and demand.
- Facilitate monthly SIOP meetings to review demand forecasts, production plans, inventory levels, and capacity constraints.
- Work closely with sales, marketing, finance, and operations to ensure alignment and effective communication of SIOP plans.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of the SIOP process and drive continuous improvement.
- Demand and Supply Planning:Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and customer forecasts to develop accurate demand plans.
- Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely and cost-effective supply of materials and components.
- Optimize inventory levels to meet service level targets while minimizing carrying costs and obsolescence risks.
- Manage and mitigate supply chain risks, including demand variability, supplier performance, and production disruptions.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the MPS and SIOP functions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness.
- Implement best practices and standardized processes to improve planning accuracy and execution.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean or Six Sigma projects, to drive operational excellence.
- Reporting and Analytics: Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to provide visibility into production schedules, inventory levels, and demand forecasts.
- Conduct regular analysis of planning data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with engineering and product development teams to ensure new product introductions and changes are seamlessly integrated into the production schedule.
- Work with the quality team to address any production or quality issues that impact the schedule.
- Collaborate with finance to align production plans with budgetary constraints and financial goals.
- Supplier and Customer Management: Engage with SCM team to ensure alignment on capacity, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Work with BU demand teams to communicate production schedules and manage customer expectations.
- Technology and Systems Management: Evaluate and implement advanced planning and scheduling (APS) tools like Kinaxis to enhance MPS and SIOP processes.
- Ensure the effective use and integration of ERP/MRP systems within the planning processes.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies that could improve planning accuracy and efficiency.
- Training and Development:
- Develop and deliver training programs to build LSW, planning and scheduling expertise within the team.
- Mentor and coach junior planners and analysts to enhance their skills and career development.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the planning team.
- Risk Management: Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the supply chain or production process.
- Monitor and assess risks related to supplier performance, production capacity, and demand variability.
- Implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and ensure business continuity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or relevant master’s degree is a plus.
- 15+ years of experience in production planning, supply chain management, or a related field within the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of MPS and SIOP processes, tools, and best practices
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills; experience with Kinaxis RapidResponse is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels .
- Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations.
