Position Summary
Provide support for existing new Product Engineering efforts within the division and specifically at the assigned facility. This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in research, development, and implementation of new technologies and methodologies that enhance productivity, efficiency, and product quality.

Through guidance of Engineering Manager and Product Engineers, support IPD Engineering projects.Additionally, the Engineering Intern will:
(Design and Drafting) Assist with mechanical part design, electromechanical design, assembly design.
(Assembly) conduct station set-up, lean manufacturing, process validation, mechanical troubleshooting, & electrical troubleshooting.
(Calibration) perform manual calibrations, automated test fixtures, mechanical design and manufacture, software design and execution.
(Quality) troubleshoot failure analysis, recommend product improvements, & system software verification and validation of product software.
Update work instructions, control plans, inspection plans
Improve the division training matrix.
Assist in running problem solving events.
Seek out process improvements through the quality function.
Research and/or identify AI or automated inspection techniques and options.
Assist in projects or Kaizens as identified by location Division Engineering Manager.
Goals
Gain hands-on experience by utilizing inspection equipment.
Learn Engineering role within the facility/division and understand how it functions.
Apply problem solving techniques.
Experience an Engineering environment and work under the Engineering Manager to drive improvement through product related efforts.
Outcomes/Results:
Better understand the relationships between college course work and real-world engineering.
Ensure student is more prepared as he/she enters the workforce after college.
Provide IPD with additional support to facilitate completion of projects and business-related activities.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Sophomore or Junior pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Biomechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering, from an accredited university.
Familiarity with CAD, Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools such as Minitab
Leadership desire and experience demonstrated through roles in class, student organizations, work or internships, or extracurricular activities.
Desire to work in a manufacturing environment.
GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Geographic mobility preferred.
