We are looking for candidates with a strong track record in developing new hardware products, experience in the Aerospace industry is highly preferred, though experience in other industries with a formal phase gate review process will also be considered. This role is ideal for candidates with experience leading technical teams through multiple and/or large-scale product development programs, driving innovative products through their inception to delivery.
This is an on-site position that offers flexibility to work from home part-time dependent on project needs.

The Cabin Electronics Product Group is the world’s leading manufacturer of in-seat power systems for the commercial airline industry. The group’s EmPower® product line provides a variety of scalable power solutions for aircraft passenger cabins and flight decks. The system is used by over 280 airlines, IFE suppliers, and all major aircraft OEM manufacturers worldwide.
Job Summary:
As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the design, development, and introduction of new products into production. Working closely with cross-functional teams, department heads, and key stakeholders, you’ll oversee programs from initiation through delivery—ensuring products are developed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. This is a dynamic role that combines technical leadership and program management.
Duties & Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
- Lead a core team of engineers (EE, ME, Systems, SW, Qualification Test) and extended team (Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, Production Test, Engineering Services)
Technical Leadership:
- Coordinate engineering staff to resolve complex engineering issues.
- Proactively manage risk while balancing technical decisions and business needs.
- Oversee test engineers performing hardware/software design verification testing.
- Coordinate test engineers performing aircraft OEM qualification testing (e.g., Boeing and Airbus)
- Manage on-time submission of documents to Boeing and Airbus to support the offerability processes.
Contract Management:
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, negotiating statement of work and minor scope changes directly with the customer.
Budget and Cost Control:
- Create and track budgets for complex development programs and engineering change proposals.
Schedule Control:
- Create and manage program schedules for the entire product development lifecycle to ensure timely program delivery.
- Provide guidance to team members to adhere to and improve schedules.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate program risks while capitalizing on opportunities.
Process Improvement:
- Drive process optimization by identifying inefficiencies and eliminating unnecessary steps in engineering workflows.
- Incorporate lessons learned into organizational design guidelines to improve future projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field required; Electrical Engineering preferred, OR 12+ years of managing hardware development (initiation, design, and testing phases) will also be considered.
- Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) – A minimum of 8+ years of experience in similar roles.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Proficiency in program management tools including MS Project, MS Office, Requirements Management, and Configuration Management.
- Hands-on experience with developing new hardware products and familiarity with engineering validation processes.
- Prefer background in a highly regulated industry, such as Aerospace or Medical Devices
Employment Eligibility Requirements:
- As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $132,983 - $199,474 per year. (Mid-point: $166,228).
- Astronics also offers a highly competitive Quarterly Profit Sharing Bonus.
Factors such as experience in comparable roles, skill sets, training, education, certifications, other qualifications, market conditions and business needs influence actual salary offered. At Astronics AES, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range.
