Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as Architectural Engineer or equivalent
- Knowledge of construction codes, regulations and industry standards
- Ability to read and interpret facility design drawings and specifications
- Proficient in Microsoft products
- Experience in Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit
- Willingness to travel
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
Job Description
The design team member will support design and construction of Weapons System Infrastructure & Capabilities (WSIC) projects to include major facility modifications, construction projects, and support equipment installation projects for the Trident II missile. During Design, the design team member will develop and review facility engineering design packages, including drawings and sketches, technical specifications, and cost estimates. Facility project designs will be evaluated for compliance with engineering principles and best practices, company standards and policies, customer contract requirements, and relevant specifications and regulations. During construction, the design team member will review and interpret construction plans and specifications to ensure alignment with design intent. Regular site visits will be conducted to verify that constructed facilities meet design specifications and company requirements. Any construction deviations or deficiencies will be identified and reported to the project team, and corrective actions will be ensured.
Please note that this position does NOT support teleworking; the preferred candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility in Cape Canaveral, FL, and will be expected to work in the office.
Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional certification in architecture, engineering, or a related field (e.g. LEED AP, PE)
- Experience creating cost estimates for facility projects
- Familiarity with the military construction (MILCON) process
- Experience with construction inspection and oversight
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for briefings and stakeholder coordination
