About the team you are joining
IATA
is committed to achieving net zero CO2 emissions by 2050. In our Sustainability
and Economics team we take a holistic approach to this challenge and seek to
combine subject matter expertise with a cross-functional approach to leverage
on all knowledge within the team.
We are a think-tank as well as a do-tank. Net zero for aviation requires
a no-stones-unturned approach and IATA must research all options and
opportunities to help bring fruition to the suite of solutions from now to 2050
and beyond.
To
achieve this, the global fuel system must be able to deliver a safe and
reliable supply of fuel at competitive prices. The ramp-up of Sustainable Aviation
Fuel (SAF) within this system is the key driver for our industry to be able to
decarbonize, and we also need to ensure maturity of all other solutions related
to reduced fuel burn, new energy solutions such as hydrogen or electric, and carbon
capture or related technologies and programs. This requires substantial work
across the value chain, bringing together stakeholders and industry experts to
progress research, trials, validation, and operating specifications.
Reporting
to the Senior Vice President Sustainability and Chief Economist, you lead a
multifaceted team covering all these priorities. You will lead a group of SMEs in
fuel supply, pricing, and infrastructure as well as research in the areas of net
zero roadmaps, including SAF ramp up, new technologies, life cycle emissions,
carbon capture and non-CO2 impacts.
We
are individually and collectively responsible for the team’s success and expect
a sympathetic and collaborative management style with an emphasis on upskilling
across the team.
