Role Introduction
Reports to: General Manager Engineering Operations
Lead from the front to shape how aircraft maintenance is planned, executed, and assured across Cathay’s fleet. This role sits at the centre of Engineering Operations, translating regulatory, operational, and commercial requirements into optimised maintenance programmes that protect safety, reliability, and asset value.
Working across Engineering Maintenance and Engineering systems, the role balances strategic direction with operational precision. From implementing an optimised Aircraft Maintenance Schedule to overseeing heavy maintenance check performance and managing maintenance costs, the focus is on delivering high availability while maintaining uncompromising compliance and data integrity.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who thrives on complexity, partnership, and continuous improvement — ensuring every maintenance decision contributes to safe operations today and a resilient, future‑ready Engineering function tomorrow.
Key Responsibilities
- Set strategic direction and lead the Planned Maintenance and Records team to deliver high performance, customer focus, and progressive capability development
- Implement and continuously optimise the Aircraft Maintenance Schedule, ensuring maintenance requirements are executed efficiently through Engineering Maintenance and Engineering systems
- Manage line maintenance planning to optimise total maintenance cost while maximising aircraft availability
- Ensure all maintenance planning processes comply with applicable regulatory, business, and operational requirements
- Drive continuous improvement in heavy maintenance check management and oversee the performance of heavy maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) providers
- Ensure aircraft configuration data and technical records are complete, accurate, and compliant, supporting asset value preservation and aircraft redelivery requirements
- Build and manage effective relationships with Engineering teams, suppliers, and key stakeholders to resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner
- Control relevant aircraft maintenance costs and lead initiatives to improve maintenance cost performance
- Monitor industry developments and translate emerging practices into measurable improvements in efficiency, productivity, and operational performance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrated experience in managing and delivering high performance through a team
- Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering continuous business process improvement
- Demonstrated experience in managing suppliers and key stakeholders to achieve defined business outcomes
- Proven ability to build strong, effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Commercial and business acumen
- Strong written and oral communication skills
