TITLE: Authorized Person
REPORTS TO: Purser
Overview
The Authorized Person is an onboard, non-safety qualified role in addition to the minimum required Flight Attendant crew. This position provides language translation and communication support to enhance passenger understanding, improve the overall customer experience, and assist the crew in effectively communicating with non-English speaking passengers.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Provide real-time translation between passengers and Flight Attendants.
- Assist in communicating important onboard information such as service procedures, general announcements, and instructions in designated language.
- Support non-English speaking passengers with questions, needs, and service requests.
- Assist Flight Attendants with non-safety related communication during boarding, inflight service, and deplaning.
- Help manage passenger interactions in situations involving language barriers.
- Support during high-demand or irregular operations where communication is critical.
- Provide translation during delays, diversions, or other service disruptions.
- Assist in relaying updates as needed.
- Perform GSC functions, including conducting security-related performance analysis, tracking delays and cancellations, and monitoring Secure Flight results to identify and resolve inhibited errors or discrepancies. Performance of GSC duties is considered an inherent responsibility of this position and, therefore, is not eligible for override pay.
Limitations Of Role
- Serves solely in a language support, translation, and customer service capacity and is not assigned safety, security, regulatory compliance, or emergency response responsibilities.
- Is not a required crewmember for purposes of aircraft operation or regulatory staffing requirements.
- Does not perform preflight, inflight, or post-flight safety duties assigned to Flight Attendants.
- Does not provide safety briefings, safety demonstrations, or emergency instructions to passengers.
- Does not conduct security inspections, security searches, or security-related compliance functions onboard the aircraft.
- Does not participate in emergency evacuations, firefighting, crowd control, medical response, or other emergency management functions except as may be required of any passenger onboard the aircraft.
- May assist Flight Attendants with language translation during routine operations; however, such assistance does not constitute the performance of Flight Attendant duties.
- Shall not be assigned duties that require Flight Attendant certification, qualification, or regulatory authorization.
- Is not considered part of the minimum required cabin crew complement and may not substitute for a Flight Attendant under any circumstances.
- Any communication provided to passengers is limited to translation or customer service support and is performed under the direction of the Flight Attendant crew.
- The Authorized Person is a GlobalX employee assigned to support the Sunrise arrangement, reports to GlobalX operational personnel, and is not a Flight Attendant, required crewmember, or safety-qualified role.
Skills And Qualifications
- Must have prior customer service experience, hospitality, or aviation-related role (preferred but not required).
- Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be flexible with scheduling, including irregular hours, weekends, and travel.
- Must be fluent in Creole/French with the ability to communicate effectively with passengers.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive environment.
- Must meet applicable training requirements.
- Strong teamwork and adaptability skills are essential.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
