The Dispatch Database Officer (Dispatch Aeronautical Information Officer) will see you working in a 24/7 operational shift environment and be primarily responsible for monitoring and maintaining the Navigation Database and associated Flight Planning applications. The role is responsible for providing operational support for all aspects of Flight Dispatch, including analysis and application of aeronautical data for pre-flight planning, in-flight communications and replanning, systems maintenance & recovery, back-up systems support and responding to relevant information that affects flight planning activities across the Qantas International and Domestic network.
Your core responsibilities will also include; analysing aeronautical information from NOTAM & AIP’s and performing immediate updates to flight planning databases. You will also identify, analyse and implement flight planning system restrictions, and cascade information to relevant stakeholders. In addition to this you will update and maintain aircraft data for flight planning purposes and collaborate with relevant business stakeholders to support operation activities including charters and new sector setup. You will support the Flight Planning operation during disruption scenarios such as Volcanic Eruptions and Airspace Closures by building new temporary routes and providing relevant additional information to key stakeholders.
Furthermore, you will interpret and apply Flight Dispatch and Qantas Fuel policies and procedures to support optimal flight plans. Finally, you will maintain currency in and demonstrate competent knowledge and application of aviation rules & regulations, Qantas Fuel Policy, Flight Dispatch procedures and other relevant policies/procedures as required. You will identify error trends, recurring issues and provide suggestions for process improvements including follow on actions to address these.
- Candidates must be able to work a 7 day rotating roster.

- Understanding of the aviation business including an awareness of the competing priorities of both operational and commercial activities
- Strong background in aviation with an understanding of airport infrastructure, airspace structure and aeronautical navigation practices
- Ability to read and interpret aeronautical information contained in NOTAM’s & AIP SUP’s, and understand the operational impacts
