The role of an Industrial Equipment Technician centers on ensuring equipment reliability through the troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and calibration of mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control systems within the Technical Operations Center following established manuals and procedures. To excel in this role, candidates must possess strong skills in diagnosing, repairing and calibrating industrial machinery, along with a solid understanding of AC/DC motors and controls, Programmable Logic Controllers, instrumentation calibration and repair, metering, and the ability to read schematics and control logic.
Summary Of Responsibilities (not Comprehensive Of All Tasks)
- Utilize the computer maintenance management system to execute and finalize daily maintenance tasks while effectively operating various hand and power tools, measurement instruments, and testing equipment to accomplish troubleshooting and repair.
- Communicate clearly and collaborate with team members, ensuring continuity across shifts by documenting actions and addressing any irregularities or planned activities.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment, while proactively identifying and resolving issues to support overall team objectives.
- Follow instructions and respond to management direction.
- Exercise strong communication skills and being a good team player.
- Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial instrumentation including temperature, pressure, electrical, flow, liquid analytics and level devices to ensure accuracy and compliance with operational requirements.
- Diagnose and repair control system components, including transmitters, sensors, control valves, actuators, and associated wiring.
- Utilize calibration and test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, loop calibrators, signal generators, and pressure calibrators to verify proper operation of instrumentation and control circuits.
- Perform mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic repairs on industrial equipment.
What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- Ability to support and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems, including ladder logic, function block, I/O verification, and signal tracing for process control systems.
- Must have minimum of five-years of maintenance and/or EIC experience in an industrial environment.
- Must have a 2-year technical degree in industrial related study (Electromechanics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Industrial Technician, etc) or completion of an approved apprentice program.
- Must have knowledge of National Electric code.
- Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Ability to use multimeters and other electrical test and measurement equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret instrumentation diagrams, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control logic documentation to effectively perform maintenance and system improvements.
- Ability to repair switch boxes, conduits, lighting fixtures, regulators, motors, hydraulic control systems, and other electrical components.
- Ability to maintain industrial instrumentation including temperature, pressure, electrical, flow, liquid analytics, level, and scales.
- Must have good computer skills with above average problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a variety of environments.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and provide outstanding customer service.
- Must be able to read and write at a level to comprehend and apply information contained in detailed and complex technical manuals, procedural manuals, blueprints, etc. with no assistance.
- Must have the ability to work without close supervisory direction and to complete the job without assignment of tasks.
- Must meet the physical requirements which include the ability to lift at least 70 pounds.

- Prior Equipment Maintenance or Calibration experience with a minimum of a 2-year degree in an electrical field. Instrumentation and controls experience in a testing or R&D environment.
