We are seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented Payroll & HR Specialist to support payroll operations and human resources across Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada. This role requires strong regional expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively across complex, multi-country environments. The specialist will play a key role in driving payroll accuracy, compliance, process consistency, and service excellence across the region by partnering with internal stakeholders and third-party providers, strengthening standard operating procedures, and identifying opportunities to improve controls, efficiency, and the overall employee experience. This position combines operational execution with process stewardship and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing across multiple countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local statutory and regulatory requirements
- Serve as a regional point of contact for payroll and HR operational matters, helping drive consistent practices and alignment across countries and stakeholders
- Support HR operations, including onboarding, benefits administration, and employee records management, with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and service delivery
- Administer local and payroll-related benefits, including health, retirement, and statutory benefits, ensuring compliance with regional requirements and effective integration with payroll processes
- Create, maintain, and enhance standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and control points to strengthen consistency, audit readiness, and business continuity
- Conduct regular reviews of payroll and HR processes to identify gaps, risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for standardization, simplification, and improved cycle time
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to implement process improvements and strengthen operational effectiveness across the region
- Monitor changes in regional labor laws, payroll regulations, and compliance requirements, translating those changes into process updates and operational actions
- Manage relationships with third-party payroll and HR vendors, holding them to expected service, compliance, and delivery standards
- Collaborate with stakeholders across HR, finance, operations, and other business partners to resolve issues, improve workflows, and support broader business objectives
- Respond to employee and stakeholder inquiries related to payroll and HR matters with a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and care
- Perform GL posting and account reconciliation related to payroll activities, ensuring completeness and accuracy of payroll-related financial data
- Manage banking operations and payroll-related bank transactions, supporting strong controls and timely execution
- Contribute to regional process governance by tracking recurring issues, surfacing trends, and recommending actions that improve service quality and operational performance
What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- Must have authorization to live and work in Colombia at the time of application. Delta does not sponsor
- Minimum of 4 years of payroll and/or HR experience across Latin America, the Caribbean, and/or Canada
- Conversational and business proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese required
- Experience managing payroll and HR related processes in a multinational environment
- Experience in the airline industry required
- Knowledge of regional labor laws, payroll compliance requirements, and statutory practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Demonstrated experience creating SOPs, process documentation, and operational controls
- Experience reviewing workflows, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting implementation of process changes
- Familiarity with GL posting, account reconciliation, and payroll-related banking operations
- Must be able to travel to and from the United States and other countries as required for training and business meetings
- Proven ability to manage vendors, navigate cross-functional environments, and influence outcomes without direct authority
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, problem-solving capability, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
