Senior Executive, Flight Safety Investigator
Position Summary
The Senior Executive, Flight Safety Investigator is responsible for supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of Flight Operations Safety Management System (SMS) by conducting comprehensive safety investigations, analysing operational safety occurrences, and promoting a proactive safety culture. The role ensures that all safety reports and investigations are managed objectively, completed within established timelines, and result in effective corrective and preventive actions to mitigate operational risks and prevent recurrence.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct safety investigations involving flight crew, cabin crew, dispatchers, and other Flight Operations personnel by gathering evidence, analysing data, identifying root causes, and preparing comprehensive investigation reports.
- Ensure the timely management, follow-up, and closure of safety investigations, verifying that corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented and monitored to improve operational safety.
- Analyse safety reports, operational trends, hazards, and occurrence data to identify emerging risks and recommend practical safety enhancements that strengthen overall flight safety performance.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver safety promotion initiatives, including safety campaigns, newsletters, presentations, awareness materials, and briefings to foster a positive safety culture throughout Flight Operations.
- Plan and conduct flight audits, simulator audits, internal safety audits, and operational compliance reviews to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, company procedures, Safety Management System (SMS) standards, and industry best practices.
- Liaise and collaborate with internal departments, regulatory authorities, external agencies, and operational stakeholders on safety-related matters, supporting effective communication, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare accurate investigation reports, audit findings, safety performance analyses, and management reports while maintaining complete and confidential safety records.
- Participate in safety committees, risk assessments, and continuous improvement programmes to enhance operational safety performance and organisational resilience.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by management in support of Flight Operations safety objectives.
Qualifications and Years of Experience
- Candidates must possess at least an SPM qualification with relevant experience as a pilot and hold a valid Pilot Licence (PPL, CPL, or ATPL). The successful candidate should demonstrate strong knowledge of flight operations, aviation safety investigation methodologies, Safety Management Systems (SMS), and human factors. Good working knowledge of Civil Aviation Regulations (CAR) 2016, Civil Aviation Act 1969, Civil Aviation Directives (CAD), Civil Aviation Guidance Materials (CAGM), ICAO Annexes (1–19), and related aviation documentation is essential. Excellent analytical, communication, report-writing, interpersonal, and Microsoft Office 365 skills are required. Experience in aircraft maintenance or technical flight operations will be an added advantage
