Johnson Service Group is looking for a Maintenance Worker for one of our clients in San Jose. The position involves vegetation management, creek maintenance, and seasonal flood preparedness efforts throughout Santa Clara County. Responsibilities: Perform vegetation management activities in support of the Stream Maintenance Program (SMP). Remove invasive plant species and maintain native plant mitigation sites. Prune vegetation to improve access and remove vegetation from creek channels to maintain flow capacity. Haul and dispose of cut vegetation over uneven terrain, creek banks, and other challenging landscapes. Assist with sandbag program by filling, loading, and delivering sandbags to designated public distribution sites. Safely operate hand tools and follow established safety protocols. Work collaboratively with field crews while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid California driver's license Experience in landscape maintenance, vegetation management, or a related outdoor field preferred. Knowledge of vegetation management practices, including herbicide application. Experience using hand and power tools, including pruners, pole saws, loppers, chainsaws, and weed-whips. Basic knowledge of irrigation system repair and maintenance. Familiarity with California native and non-native plant species. Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work for extended periods. Comfortable working in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and areas with poison oak. Ability to walk and work safely on uneven terrain, creek banks, and steep slopes while carrying equipment or debris.
