Our 18-month Engineering Graduate Programme
Joining the Leonardo Graduate Scheme is the opportunity to grow your career in hardware design. You’ll start on a salary of £33,000, with a welcome bonus and a Temporary Accommodation Allowance for those moving more than 40 miles for the role.

As a Graduate Hardware Engineer you will
- Contribute to the design and development of hardware systems, including analogue, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for electronic warfare systems.
- Work on the full hardware development lifecycle, from concept design and simulation to prototyping and testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware components with software and system designs.
- Perform laboratory testing and debugging, ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.
- Contribute to technical reviews.
Your role may even take you across the UK or abroad for technical reviews.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Design and develop high-performance hardware systems, including both analogue and digital circuits.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure successful integration of hardware components with broader system architectures.
- Test, troubleshoot, and optimise designs in laboratory environments, ensuring they meet the required performance and environmental standards.
- Document hardware designs, including specifications, test plans, and technical reports, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for hardware design processes and methodologies.
What We Need From You
We are looking for graduates who are enthusiastic about hardware design and eager to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Education Minimum of a 2 2 Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s degree, or higher degree (MSc or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related discipline.
- Skills and Interests A strong interest in hardware design and development. Familiarity with circuit design and simulation tools is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided
- Problem-solving and collaboration Strong problem-solving abilities, with excellent communication skills and a desire to work collaboratively in a team. A proactive approach to learning new technologies is crucial
