General Machinist
Full time (Shifts)
Derby, site-based role
An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a skilled and qualified General Machinist to join our Rotatives team that is responsible for the manufacture of the Shafts for our large Civil engines.
Your role as a machine operator will involve working on our various CNC machining platforms producing Shafts and any other commodities we support. You will be responsible for delivering against weekly targets to meet customer requirements. You will also work with cross functional teams to implement and sustain improvement activities within our manufacturing environment.

What you will be doing:
In this role you will:
- Work to Rolls-Royce’s Technical Instructions and program manuals to deliver consistent, high-quality machining across a variety of different components and product families.
- Operate a variety of Inspection equipment, including machine probing, micrometres, plug gauges.
- Interpretation of manufacturing drawings, customer drawings and written specifications.
- Assessment of whether the quality of components produced within the facility meets the required standards.
- Work within a team to effectively resolve quality issues and ensure your work is being completed to plan.

For this role you will need to demonstrate understanding of the appliable health and safety standards and we are looking for someone who is/has:
- Completed an advanced modern engineering apprenticeship* and an NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
- Siemens control system experience is preferred.
- Experience in 5-axis milling, turning, drilling, and boring.
- Previous experience with aerospace components would be an advantage.
- Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, dimensional and visual inspection.
- You are an active and patient individual who can manage your time effectively.
- An individual who is able to work alone and as part of a team and will strive to achieve delivery commitments.
- Someone who is confident and willing to partake in champion roles.
