Johnson Service Group is recruiting a Power Analyst for a great client of ours in Tampa, FL. This is a 6 month+ contract to hire on site 5 days a week in Tampa, FL. Pay rate is in the $33 - $55/hr range. Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder Position Summary Description Responsible for analyzing portfolio optimization, coordinating and transacting weekly, monthly, seasonal and annual power transactions. Responsible for the development and implementation of power contracting and risk management strategies to optimize energy assets. Develops and maintains business relationships that support company presence in the commercial markets. Coordinates reporting activities on power optimization and risk profile for delivery to senior management. Performs critical, non-routine analysis related to the performance of commercial agreements and supports commercial assessments conducted by the department. Supports the administration of power supply required to serve company’s commercial activity with oversight on the enforcement of commercial terms and conditions for all such agreements. Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Business Administration or Industrial Technology or related field is required. Professional and/or educational experience in utility industry, energy data analysis or energy trading is preferred. Experience with Integrated Resource Planning is a plus. Analyzes short and long-term power and fuel requirements, load forecasts, existing positions and marketplace conditions to determine, recommend and implement appropriate strategies for weekly, monthly, annual power and fuel procurement. Coordinates with System Operations and Fuels personnel in developing the most economic and reliable portfolio of company’s contracted and owned resources, including determination of operating cost, unit dispatch order, and operating parameters. Coordinates with System Operations personnel on arrangement of transactions past Day-Ahead, as needed. Analyzes market conditions through trade publications, market contacts, electronic trading tools and other publicly available information. Effectively utilizes such information to enhance company’s overall economic performance. Monitors seasonal weather forecasts, transmission availability, gas pipeline utilization, system conditions, outage schedules and other relevant market information to identify opportunities and challenges. Negotiates weekly, monthly, seasonal and annual capacity/energy commodity purchases and sales, as well as ensure contract terms are consistent with company policies and procedures, including established credit and trade authorization limits. Ensures compliance with all trading policies and authority limits; approves transactions as needed. Analyzes anticipated unused energy assets (e.g. generating capacity, electric transmission capacity, renewable energy credits, etc.) on a weekly, monthly, seasonal and annual basis, and recommends optimization strategies for implementation.
