How You'll Help Us Keep Climbing (Overview & Key Responsibilities)
As a
Radio Operator with Delta Air Lines, you will serve as a critical communications link between Flight Crews, Flight Control, and Delta Operations. You will utilize radio, telephone, and satellite communication systems to support the safe and efficient operation of Delta flights worldwide.
In this role, you will accurately document operational communications in flight history records and assist in maintaining a network of more than 170 radio sites. Radio Operators may also support the training and development of new and current team members to ensure operational excellence and consistency.
This is a fast-paced Operations role that requires
24/7 coverage, including weekends and holidays, and demands a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and teamwork.
What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
- Embraces a diverse set of people, thinking and styles.
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to clearly transmit and receive audio communications in English using a headset.
- Ability to remain seated and focused at a workstation for extended periods.
- Willingness and availability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operational needs require.
- Demonstrated flexibility to support special projects and perform additional duties assigned by leadership to meet operational requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in a time-sensitive environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience handling inbound communications, call intake, or dispatch-related responsibilities.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and adapt to changing operational demands.
- Demonstrates initiative by identifying opportunities to improve processes, solve problems, and drive operational excellence.
- Maintains professionalism, composure, and a positive attitude during high-volume or rapidly changing situations.
- Experience in aviation, operations control, communications, dispatch, military communications, emergency services, or related operational environments preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation and recordkeeping.
- Typing proficiency of 45 words per minute or greater.
