Role Introduction
Reports to: Group Insurance Manager
As a Assistant Group Insurance Manager, you are responsible for supporting the Group Insurance Manager in the implementation and effective management of the Cathay Group's insurance programme (both aviation and non-aviation).
As a Assistant Group Insurance Manager, you are responsible for insurance claims management, act as a primary business partner for non-aviation insurance matters, working closely with business units, subsidiaries, brokers, insurers and/or legal counsels to ensure appropriate insurance solutions are in place to support the Cathay Group’s operations and business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Group Insurance Manager in the management and continuous enhancement of the Cathay Group's insurance programme, with a primary focus on non-aviation insurance matters
- Independently handle insurance-related matters, including day-to-day insurance enquiries from business units and subsidiaries, providing practical guidance and support on insurance coverage, claims handling and risk transfer solutions
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support business initiatives and achieve effective outcomes; act as a key contact point for internal stakeholders, brokers, insurers, loss adjusters and other service providers, facilitating effective communication and timely resolution of insurance-related issues
- Work closely with business units and subsidiaries to understand operational requirements, assess potential risk and insurance implications and develop practical solutions that align with business and insurance objectives, as well as regulatory requirements
- Review insurance requirements relating to contracts, projects and business activities, and provide recommendations in accordance with Group insurance guidelines and programme requirements, to ensure that the Cathay Group’s interests are protected
- Prepare claims analysis and statistics for management perusal, coordinate and support insurance claims by liaising with stakeholders, brokers, insurers and other parties to facilitate timely notification and effective resolution of claims
- Support insurance renewal activities, including collection and review of underwriting information, coordination with stakeholders and engagement with brokers and insurers. Review insurance documentation including but not limited to coverage, terms and exclusions, to ensure that insurance cover is in line with Cathay Group’s guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Monitor developments in insurance markets and industry practices and share relevant insights with stakeholders where appropriate
- Prepare management information, insurance analyses and reports to support decision-making and stakeholder discussions
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance stakeholder experience and strengthen the effectiveness of insurance-related activities across the Group
Requirements
- University degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Business, Finance, or a related discipline
- Recognised professional insurance qualifications (e.g. ACII, ANZIFF or equivalent) would be an advantage
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in insurance, broking or claims handling, risk management
- Sound knowledge of commercial insurance programmes and claims management
- Ability to work independently
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proactive, strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good analytical, problem-solving and planning & organising capability
- Proficient in Microsoft office and other digital tools
- Proficient in spoken and written English
