Primary Objective Of The Position
Under the general direction of the YHM De-Ice Supervisor, the successful applicants will provide direction to YHM Ground Handlers and De/Anti Ice personnel in order to maintain the safe de-icing and on-time performance of all flights.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for the de/anti-icing and dispatch of departing aircraft.
- Provide guidance and oversight for staff required to perform maintenance work on ramp equipment
- Trouble shoot and assist with De-icer unit maintenance and communicate with Management and GSE
- Provide Flight crews with accurate de/anti- icing communications, holdover times and dispatch details.
- To ensure all Winter Ops data entered is entered or updated daily.
- Preparation of Internal paperwork and pre/post checks.
- Recording and reporting of all spray events into information system.
- Familiarity and skilled in using De-icers and the winter operations program.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet aircraft departure deadlines.
- Direct and train employees in Winter Operations.
- Must have excellent organizational skills, & ability to work well with others.
- Preparation of departure plans and the de-icing process with flight and GH crews.
- Understanding of Fluid acceptance and product handling.
- Maintain required inventory and order product, as necessary.
- Prepare blend and test de-icing products.
- Ensure all methods are being followed and perform company self audits.
- Communicating with Flight deck and Maintenance related to de-icing operations.
- Communicating with Lead hands/ Supervisors to ensure staff are planned for de-ice for each aircraft.
- Work independently, supervise, plan, and dispatch de-ice crews.
- Communicate with Managers and Supervisors on any exceptions, deviations, or delays.
- Perform any other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current or prior De-Ice/Anti-Icing experience is required (preferably, a minimum of 2 years).
- Must have a valid AVOP
- Ability to obtain Radio operator license
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to complete tasks & projects quickly while maintaining standards and accuracy.
- A conscientious self-starter with problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced environment.
- A team player with leadership & decision-making skills.
- Must be computer literate with exceptional organizational skills.
- Trained in Health & Safety, WHMIS, SMS, Dangerous Goods & applicable Security training. Radio Operators Certificate.
