This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s vast network of rooms.
The role
As a Mechanical Surveyor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance.
Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for undertaking control survey tasks both horizontally and vertically ensuring they are executed in line with relevant specifications, whilst ensuring safe practices during all survey-based operations around site. Additional responsibilities include this includes establishing survey control points using traversing techniques, monitoring survey control networks to indicate building settlement and also attending site meetings with project stakeholders.
- Provide Survey Control Networks enabling the setting out of equipment.
- Analysis of existing control networks
- Ensuring compliance with quality assurance requirements
- Produce Survey Reports and communicate these to the client.
- Ensure all survey equipment is in calibration and that field checks are carried out at regular intervals
- Assess practicalities and dimensional control associated with surveying activities
This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools, or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week, and is based on site at Hinkley Point C, near Bridgwater.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Surveyor
- Strong experience of installation of Survey Control Networks
- Use of survey equipment (e.g. Total Station, digital level) and the production of survey reports
- Experience with using plummet lasers and tape drops
- Experience with Starnet
- Knowledge of CDM regulations
- Experience of working in a Joint Venture or Alliance environment is desirable
Qualifications for the Mechanical Surveyor
- Surveying or Engineering degree or qualification
