Job Summary: The P roduction P lanner is responsible for cr eating work orders and scheduling production of key fabricated parts to support the Fabrication Value Stream . Essential Functions: Review Master Production Schedules and Work Orders and confer with Planners, Supervisors, Sales and Engineering to communicate daily priorities for specific customer orders to shop floor; Coordinate materials delivery information with Buyers as necessary Review Kanban and Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) requirements daily to release jobs to production through the creation of Work O rders in the Oracle ERP System; Change or split open Work Orders as required Track “Work Center Shortages“ sheet and post on the Kanban board daily Review overdue material for impact to schedule , notify Value Stream Manger (s) and Shop Floor Supervisor(s) of past due and ex pedite material as needed Look for spikes in the demand and reviews with fabrication Values Stream Manger and Superviso rs to create required GAP cards Identify and resolve daily material issues, facilitating or expediting necessary components to sup port the Finishing Value Stream Communicate with Planners, Supervisors, and Contract Administrators to communi cate and evaluate work progress Monitor Inventory levels to achieve inventory turn goa ls of key production components Backup for Buyers Any other task assigned by supervisor or management Non-Essential Functions : Prepare reports summarizing production-related information such as material shortages, downtime of work and equipment Minimum Qualifications : Experience : 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with inventory responsibilities Knowledge : In-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process used in the operating unit of assignment; W orking knowledge of buying, and ordering procedures ; working knowledge of production planning, material requirements planning and Kanban systems; working knowledge of computer systems that support production, e.g., inventory control, purchasing , production scheduling and MRP Skills/Abilities : W ell-developed ski ll in communicating with others; Proficiency in Excel and Word and a bilit y to work with Access databases; Ability to coordinate materials and productio n schedules with multiple teams, solve urgent problems associat ed with manufacture of products and document and communicate production outc omes and trends; Ability to perform math and logic computations requiring sequencing of times, critical inc idents, and numeric information; Ability to negotiate changes with vendors and manufacturing teams ; A bility to learn the techniques associated with Kanban systems. Education / Certification : High School diploma or equivalent Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
