Johnson Service Group is looking for an Substation Project Engineer with 4-8 years' experience specifically in substation protection & control, or physical design experience. This is a Direct job in Ontario, CA Salary: $150K Key Responsibilities: Create and oversee substation design deliverables from preliminary through IFC plan sets; deliverables may include but not limited to: one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring, general arrangements, conduit, grounding, equipment connection details, design criteria, equipment specifications, and construction specifications Perform engineering calculations such as bus sizing, AC/DC station service sizing, cable sizing, grounding, and equipment selection Coordinate with project manager and multidisciplinary project teams to support project execution Assist with preparation of technical studies (short circuit, grounding, arc flash, etc.) Perform QA/QC reviews of junior engineers’ work and incorporate feedback from senior engineers and SMEs Provide support during construction phases, including RFI responses and submittal review Provide technical guidance and mentorship to entry-level engineers as they develop substation design skills and project delivery experience What You Bring Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in electrical or mechanical engineering 4-8 years' experience specifically in substation protection & control, or physical design experience Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams Preferred Qualifications: Experience in utility-scale renewable energy projects (wind, solar, BESS) Consulting experience preferred Familiarity with substation design tools (e.g., EasyPower, ETAP) Benefits: Comprehensive health coverage: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, and Life Insurance Financial wellness: Health Savings Account (HSA) and Lifestyle Spending Account with employer contributions Professional development: Support for continuing education and training opportunities.
