Head of Products - Travel & Tourism Industry
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Products to lead our product management team within the travel and tourism industry. In this role, you will oversee a team of Product Owners responsible for various product lines, including booking systems, hotel and flight integrations, ancillary services, and payment solutions. You will drive the overall product strategy, ensuring that our products meet market demands, deliver exceptional customer experiences, and contribute to the company's growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Strategy & Leadership:
- Define and drive the overall product strategy and vision, aligning with company goals and market trends within the travel and tourism sector.
- Lead the product management team, providing direction, support, and mentorship to ensure successful product outcomes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with senior leadership and other departments (e.g., Engineering, Marketing, Sales) to ensure that product initiatives are well-coordinated and aligned with broader company objectives.
- Act as the primary advocate for the product team, ensuring that product priorities are understood and supported across the organization.
- Portfolio Management:
- Oversee the management of the product portfolio, ensuring that all products are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives and deliver maximum value to customers.
- Balance short-term operational needs with long-term strategic goals, ensuring the product team remains agile and responsive to market changes.
- Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across the product portfolio, using data to drive continuous improvement and product excellence.
- Conduct regular performance reviews with POs, providing feedback and guidance to optimize product performance.
- Resource Allocation & Budgeting:
- Manage the product team’s budget and resources, ensuring that investments are aligned with strategic priorities and deliver a strong return on investment.
- Allocate resources effectively across different product lines, balancing competing demands and ensuring efficient use of team capacity.
- Market & Customer Insights:
- Stay informed about market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics in the travel industry, using insights to inform product decisions and strategy.
- Champion a customer-centric approach, ensuring that all products are designed and developed with the customer in mind.
- Innovation & Growth:
- Drive innovation within the product team, fostering a culture of creativity and experimentation to explore new opportunities and improve existing products.
- Identify and pursue new product opportunities that align with the company’s growth strategy and market position.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. MBA or relevant certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in product management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the travel and tourism industry.
- Proven track record of managing and scaling successful products, with a deep understanding of travel technologies and systems like travel booking systems, hotel supplier platforms, or payment gateways.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills, with the ability to drive vision and inspire a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Deep understanding of product development processes, agile methodologies, and software development lifecycle (SDLC) within the travel sector.
- Analytical mindset, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and optimize product performance.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and make decisions under pressure.
