The Role
In this role you will lead a team responsible for the construction, commissioning, and transition into operation of the Stansted Transformation Programme with a Capex budget of c£600m over 3 years. You will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time delivery of the Terminal Extension and associated infrastructure. You will manage the 1st tier supply chain to meet safety and quality standards, collaborating with the Airport MD and an integrated team of MAG and consultant professionals. You will also oversee multiple infrastructure workstreams, including airfield, terminal, baggage, and landside connectivity, driving best practices and innovation to mitigate risks.
Accountabilities Will Also Include
- Working with MAG’s supply chain, actively drive the use of modern methods of construction and dfma principles to mitigate the impact of construction activities on airport operations and optimise the speed and efficiency of delivery.
- Take principle accountability for the process of engaging engineering and design consultants/delivery partners on all worksteams of the transformation programme (supported by procurement and contracts colleagues).
- Work with Project Controls Team to define the methodology for consistently measuring performance and output across all delivery workstreams.
- Work with Stansted Asset Management team to ensure timely and effective testing, commissioning and handover of assets including all associated asset data.
- Accountable for supporting Programme Governance with timely reporting, decision making and escalation of programme risks and issues.
- Accountable for programme budget, schedule milestones and benefits realisation as progressively signed-off at programme gateway reviews.
About You
To be successful in the role, you will have extensive experience in complex construction project delivery leadership and possess a deep understanding of client needs, especially in terms of commercial and operational opportunities specific to the sector. With a proven ability to identify and articulate critical success factors to ensure successful project outcomes. you will be adept at finding, developing, and delivering creative solutions to achieve project benefits.
With a strong background in leading and managing large, multidisciplinary teams in project management, design, and construction, you will have in-depth industry knowledge of the delivery environment. You will also exhibit strong contractual and commercial awareness, with an understanding of risk management and whole-life value. Furthermore, you will have experience in managing within a regulatory environment and influencing various stakeholders, along with expertise in value engineering and value management approaches to deliver the best technical solutions.
