We are seeking an Intern in Statistics for Summer 2025 at its West Palm Beach, FL location. Internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September. After orientation and training, interns will perform entry-level statistical analysis on rocket propulsion projects. These positions will support senior engineering staff and gain experience and familiarization with Aerojet Rocketdyne programs and products. The Statistician works with other statisticians, engineers, and managers to provide statistics knowledge for diverse engineering, operations, and business applications at Aerojet Rocketdyne.
The Statistician uses ingenuity and creativeness to solve difficult problems while meeting delivery commitments despite obstacles and constraints. Exercises considerable latitude and good business judgement in determining needed Statistics scope and in determining technical objectives and solutions for the resulting work scope. Fully understands customer requirements and expectations, develops robust plans, and creates deliverables with first-time through quality. Communicates the analysis approach and results to a non-statistical audience, and presents or supports reviews such as design reviews, Engineering Review Boards, or Executive Flight Readiness Reviews.
Working under direct supervision and following specific, details instructions and established procedures, job responsibilities will include:
- 40% statistical data analysis and predictive modeling
- 30% statistical quality control and process improvement
- 20% reliability and risk assessment, simulation studies, experimental design and analysis
- 10% opportunities for teaching and research relevant to ongoing activities
Must be currently enrolled in a M.S. or PhD program in Statistics, or closely related field with strong statistical component. Working knowledge of Minitab, SAS, and/or other statistical software packages is preferred. Familiarity with Bayesian methods would be a plus.
