What you can expect from this position:
Under the leadership of the Associate Director Operations Delivery & Readiness, the Manager, Operations Delivery – Airside Coordination effectively plans, coordinates, executes and delivers planned and un-planned airside capital projects and programs along with maintenance activities and all other airside activities that could impact operational flows or capacity on airside. The incumbent must also ensure that all activities at Toronto Pearson are undertaken safely and in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
As Manager, Operations Delivery – Airside Coordination, you will:
- Lead the implementation of the seasonal airside construction program including pre-planned projects/programs, ad hoc maintenance and all airside activities requiring impact assessments and coordination
- Responsible for maintaining and annually updating the Airside Activity Program manual
- Maintain oversight of the airside access permit process and implement efficiencies as required
- Maintain oversight and accuracy of the Aircraft Stand Mix charts, ensuring new and relevant aircraft types are documented within the charts along with the necessary aircraft fit checks performed for new aircraft types
- Oversight over the crane application, approval, and permit process along with the revenue intake process to ensure the integrity and protection of the Airport
- Develop, assess, and implement airside/apron procedures to ensure safe and efficient aircraft movements
- Lead people by providing coaching, guidance and development by providing relevant feedback for personal and career growth
- Work with the Capacity Assessment and Slot coordination teams/others to ensure airport capacity assessments are undertaken and impacts understood and mitigated prior to implementing closures
- Work alongside project, engineering, construction and internal communications teams to ensure mitigation plans, contingencies and political and community risks are developed and identified prior to implementing impactful airside construction projects or activities
- Engage, coordinate and communicate with external partners through the planning, execution and review phases of airside activities
- Collaborate with GTAA Aviation Regulatory and compliance team in interpreting Aviation Regulations, policies and procedures
- Develop a safety culture on airside and participate in safety reviews and implement corrective actions
The salary for this management non-unionized position is competitive based on the successful candidate’s qualifications.
This is the role for you, if you have:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma or a combination of education and experience
- 5 years of aviation experience working in the airport, airline or air traffic management operations
- Minimum 3 years of experience in People Management (direct report or cross-functional)
- Valid G Class Driver's license
- Ability to obtain and retain DA Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP)
- Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment
- Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position
Knowledge and skills you bring, that set-you up for success:
- Ability to lead projects from conception to planning and implementation to measuring outcomes
- Knowledge of regulatory procedures related to aviation (i.e. Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), Aeronautics Act, and TP312 – Aerodrome Standards & Recommended Practices, Airport Zoning Regulations (AZRs) and Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS)
- Able to efficiently and effectively lead all dimensions of project planning, implementation and delivery
- Strong interpersonal, influence and facilitation skills to maintain existing tenant and partner relationships, develop new tenant and partner relationships and work effectively with GTAA departments
- Ability to successfully lead and make decisions quickly and respond to critical and changing priorities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project
