About the team you are joining
The IATA Corporate Communications Team is a high performing
diverse group of professionals who, together, are responsible for a wide
spectrum of IATA’s communications (traditional media, digital platforms, social
media, internal and visual) and the IATA brand.
Reporting to the Head,
Corporate Communications, the Assistant Director, Corporate Communications,
will provide media relations support and communications counsel to IATA’s
Divisions, and take a leadership role in managing projects and events.
What your day would be like
Based in IATA’s Executive Office in Geneva, you are one of IATA’s
media spokespersons responsible for developing and maintaining key
relationships with media in your assigned area(s) of expertise, responding to
media inquiries; and supporting assigned internal clients with the developing
and delivery of annual communications plans.
Media materials are key to our work in communicating IATA’s
views on aviation industry issues. You will prepare media materials, including
press releases, fact sheets, Airlines magazine articles, annual review contributions,
speeches, and develop and update positions on relevant issues for IATA’s senior
management. When required, you will help to arrange and facilitate media
interviews with key IATA executives and subject matter experts media. You will
also work with the digital media team to craft supporting messages.
Teamwork is critical to the success of IATA’s
communications work. You can expect daily interactions with our specialists in
digital media, web, distribution, and monitoring. Moreover, you will be a key
contributor to the success of major communications opportunities such as the
Global Media Day, the IATA Annual General Meeting and IATA Conferences.
We would love to hear from you if
- Have a university degree and at least ten years
of relevant experience (in a communications role or as a journalist).
- Possess excellent communications skills in
English, both written and oral. Knowledge of another language would be an
advantage.
- Have expertise in one or more communications
disciplines among digital communications, social media, media relations,
crisis communications, reputation management, communications measurement,
spokesperson duties, speechwriting, business/political reporting etc.
- Are flexible, curious, detail-oriented, able to
work with tight deadlines, and comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
- Are a self-starter with a strong network who
enjoys both independent work and contributing to a team.
- Have a passion for aviation, a global mindset and
a good sense of humor.
