The role
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role sits within our Cavendish Nuclear business, from decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, through supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants, our role in Cavendish Nuclear is to clean up the nuclear legacy and create a world where nuclear plays a key contribution in protecting our nation, ensuring security of energy supply and meeting our net zero commitments.
Day to day, you’ll lead the planning and management of multi discipline projects involving the coordination and integration of multi discipline tasks. This role leads the engineering team to deliver technical solutions to budget, targets, and estimating the engineering scope for Projects from concept design to full Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC).
- Effective management of multi discipline teams to ensure timely & efficient delivery of engineering work to meet customer agreed scope.
- Promote effective co-operation across Engineering and other functional teams.
- Ensure effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid the development of business, resolution of technical and delivery issues, and such that the customer is fully briefed and informed of progress.
- Technical management of the engineering output to ensure delivery of technical solutions in line with agreed technical scope.
- Ensure project and technical audits and review are planned & executed in order to impart learning and experience as appropriate and in line with agreed standards.
- Manage resource demands and development of capability skills to match needs of future workload and coach and mentor members of the team.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Engineering Manager
- Previous experience within the nuclear industry is not an essential requirement.
- Demonstrable management experience, including experience in managing multi discipline teams to deliver analysis activities on a range of project types
- Excellent communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines
- Experience of defining, applying, and monitoring engineering governance arrangements.
Qualifications for the Engineering Manager
- Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline with significant demonstrable experience
