The role
As an Environmental Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that Manchester Airport operates in compliance with environmental legislation and best practices. This involves developing and implementing processes and standards for identifying, assessing, mitigating, and controlling environmental risks, such as pollution, emissions, waste, and noise.
You will be charged with investigations into environmental incidents and implementing remedial measures, offering expert advice and direction to the operational staff, and liaising with stakeholders on ecological matters.
Additionally, your responsibilities cover controlling environmental licenses and consents, sustaining the ISO14001 standard and the corporate EMS system, and facilitating the creation and enactment of anti-pollution initiatives.
What will make you successful in the role?
To be successful in this role, you should have a degree in environmental science or a related field or have equivalent industry experience.
You should also be a member of IEMA or a similar organisation and have a solid understanding of environmental legal requirements and pollution prevention. You should be able to develop and manage mature environmental management systems and have an auditor qualification, preferably as a lead auditor.
You will possess strong communication and influencing abilities, along with robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
