Establish and lead Quality and Safety Oversight processes and associated metrics for Air Canada’s Engine and Component Maintenance programs. Ensure the integrity of Air Canada’s operations by identifying and mitigating risks and emerging trends within the engine/component maintenance program.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and nurture a culture within the organization that prioritizes safety management and proactive risk mitigation.
- Be responsible for the development and oversight of regulatory, quality, safety and customer standards at Engine/Component vendors.
- Formulate and establish quality plans and standards for Engine/Component Maintenance division.
- Support the creation, design, and implementation of training programs for the Engine/Component Maintenance team to ensure ongoing quality improvement.
- Conduct, assist, and lead risk assessments pertaining to engine/component maintenance.
- Establish and maintain processes and standards ensuring knowledge capture and transfer, as well as continuous improvement strategies.
- Ensure department policies and standards outlined in the Control Manual are adhered to.
- Cultivate employee development and ensure that engagement and productivity meet operational needs.
- Collaborate with ACM Quality Assurance to develop and implement an operational quality, safety, and compliance oversight program for Engine/Component
- Maintenance, ensuring the integrity of Air Canada operations.
- Collaborate with departments and vendors to manage and oversee corrective action plans aimed at reducing or eliminating risks associated with operational and safety issues within the Engine/Component Maintenance business unit.
- Be accountable to ensure all vendor organizations comply with relevant civil aviation authority conditions and requirements, including regulations set by their own regulatory authority, e.g. TC, EASA and FAA.
- Liaise with Airworthiness and Civil Aviation Authorities.
- Evaluate and recommend enhancements to current processes to improve the safety and reliability of Air Canada’s fleet.
- Identify the training requirements for the Engine/Component Maintenance to support and improve the continuous quality improvement process.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented, effective and sustained by performing audits and on-site inspections.
- Manage and conduct quarterly quality meetings with the MRO’s to review quality oversight metrics, actions and address emerging risks and existing risks.
- Ensure quality mandates are addressed within the Engine/Component Maintenance process.
- Review, update and oversee Borescope standards and borescope quality.
- Promote Air Canada’s Safety management system programs and enforce the observance of all safety precautions related to the duties of the production personnel.
- Ensure assigned personnel are aware of and following company policies, procedures, and standards as well as customer and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Diploma in quality management, or equivalent experience in risk management, quality systems, Safety Management Systems and quality programs.
- AME license or equivalent an asset.
- Experience in engine MRO and global MRO engine maintenance facilities and engine maintenance programs.
- 10+ years diversified experience within an aviation regulatory environment.
- Experience managing safety and risk management processes
- Extensive experience developing a quality process and key performance indicators
- Good management and supervisory skills
- Experience and knowledge of Transport Canada aviation regulations and norms
- Experience and Knowledge of Aviation Quality Management Systems and Standards (ISO9001, ISO17025, AS9100/9110, AWS D.17, NAS410, NADCAP) an asset.
- Experience and analytical skills in assembling facts and reaching sound decisions.
- Experience and knowledge of large transport category aircraft heavy maintenance work and oversight processes.
- Experience and knowledge of aviation maintenance Quality requirements and processes
- Experience, knowledge and qualifications/certifications as a quality/safety auditor.
- Experience, knowledge in engine records and associated engine technical record packages reviews and approvals (AD status, SB status, LLP’s, MAR’s etc.)
