Position Title: Data Operations Engineer (LSC)

Position Summary
The Data Operations Engineer plays a vital role at JetBlue by providing data support within the modern data stack, aiding data engineers, analysts, business users, data scientists, and decision-makers throughout the organization. This role requires a profound knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and familiarity with tools such as Snowflake, Azure Cloud, dbt (data build tool), and git version control. Data Operations Engineers are pivotal in managing and optimizing data workflows, combining technical proficiency with an extensive understanding of data management principles. Candidates for this position should enjoy collaborative work and feel comfortable communicating ideas publicly. The Data Operations Engineer reports to the Manager of IT Data Operations Engineering.
Essential Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business partners to comprehend external system configurations and establish connectivity, facilitating downstream data engineering development
- Overseeing the entire data pipeline, from data collection to deployment of data models
- Monitor data pipeline performance and support bug fixing and performance analysis along the data pipeline resolve any issues or bottlenecks
- Perform end-to-end unit testing & code reviews to promote data integrity across a variety of products built by the development team
- Identifying and implementing process improvements, such as automating manual processes
- Provide technical support and training to end-users on data access and usage
- Be comfortable presenting to large groups in public settings with high visibility
- Be a strong advocate for a culture of process and data quality across development teams
- Follow an agile development methodology

Minimum Experience and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Physics; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experienceThree (3) years of relevant experience in a data role working with data warehouses and business intelligence toolsFamiliarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and understanding of data warehousing solutions like SnowflakeProficiency SQL skillsExperience with modern Extract/Load/Transform (ELT) orchestration tools like Azure Data Factory or AirflowExperience with git and git-based workflowsKnowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and data architecture principlesExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team environmentStrong communication skills and the ability to convey complex data issues in clear terms to non-technical stakeholdersAvailable for overnight travel (10%)

Preferred Experience And Qualifications
- Experience implementing best-practices for performance tuning and data processes, optimizing resource utilization, and implementing cost-effective solutions to enhance data operations.
- Strong Knowledge with Python programming
- Proven track record of successfully contributing to a project that transitioned a large enterprise to a new cloud data warehouse, like Snowflake
- Prior airline experience

- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours (including nights & weekends) and be available to respond on short-notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Compensation:
The base pay range for this position is between $100,000.00 and $128,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
