Pratt & Whitney's Mechanical Systems, External, Nacelles (MSEN) Design Engineering team is seeking a
Design Engineer to work on-site at Tinker AFB Oklahoma City.
What You Will Do:
- Design Engineer for on-site resolution of engine disassembly and rebuild issues that develop at the depot during engine rebuild; Perform design evaluations using PW Engineering Standard Work (ESW); and Document design solutions and present conclusions to PW management and external customers.
- Be part of the Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPT’s) to resolve high priority engine tear down and rebuild challenges for the Mechanical Systems, External, Nacelles (MSEN) at Tinker AFB Oklahoma City.
- Work with cross functional team (Major Repair and Overhaul (MRO), Structures, Process, etc.) to implement product improvement, limits expansion design change.
- Participate as the design’s representative on multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost, and weight.
- Work to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
- Travel less than 10%.
What You Will Learn:
- Opportunity to get hands on experience with the hardware and to learn how the parts are disassembled and reassembled.
- Learn about inspection techniques and fixtures needed for protecting the parts from handling damage.
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop solutions to problems slowing the rebuild process. This includes on site engineers and at other P&W locations.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and 2 years of Design Engineering experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering, or an Advanced degree and 6+ months of relevant experience.
- Aerospace or Turbofan Engine industry experience.
- Experience in Product Life Cycle Management tool Teamcenter or similar.
- Experience in design using Siemens NX or other 3D CAD software
- Continuous Improvement experience, and/or LEAN, CORE, ACE, Six-Sigma training.
- Experience in Microsoft Office, SAP, and other business software.

Department/Segment Overview: Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles (MSEN) Engineering is responsible for the design, development and in service support of power transmission systems, bearing compartment and rotor support design and analysis, oil and thermal management systems, engine externals packaging and architecture, as well as nacelles for commercial and military engine models.
Technical disciplines include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, System Modeling, Mechanical Design analysis for bearings gears and seals, and fluid-thermal modeling of associated components and systems.

- Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
