Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Collecting and delivering freight on and off the airport
- Ensuring loads are correctly loaded and secure at all time and all necessary paperwork is correctly completed
- Able to operate all available equipment when required
- Complete daily vehicle checks
- Report all equipment defects to a supervisor
- Maintaining regular contact with the supervisor
- Operating all equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Following SSW and company procedures
- Adhere to driver regulations and work time directive
- Follow all company procedures relating to tachographs and driving legislation
- Follow manual handling at all times
- Working in a safe manner when unsupervised
- Valid driving license
- Support DHL core operations, as required
- Scanning/sorting
- Loading/unloading containers
- Hold a valid driver’s qualification card (CPC)
- All employees are responsible for the health and safety of themselves and also those affected by their activities.
- You must conduct yourself in an orderly manner within the workplace, ensuring that correct uniform and PPE is worn.
You’ll bring to this role:
- Must have 5 year fully checkable work or education history, and Basic Disclosure Scotland check (requested upon joining) as to satisfy the requirements for a full airside pass at London Heathrow Airport
- Manual handling skills
- A safety first attitude
- Airside driving experience (preferred)
- Proficiency in forklift and/or ramp equipment an advantage
- Willing to work varied and flexible shifts
- To be able to work on one’s own initiative
- To be "health and safety" conscious
- To have a full Cat C drivers license
- Proficient in the use of IT, including use of Microsoft Office applications
- Able to communicate at all levels, from warehouse to Senior Management
- NMIV/AHS systems knowledge desirable
- Although the primary function is as a Cat C+E driver the role will require the holder to be fully flexible on additional activities if required
