About your next challenge as Manager, Business Development:
The Manager, Business Development for Power Systems and Simulation is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the nuclear energy sector. This role requires a deep understanding of nuclear technology, industry trends, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics. The candidate will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, including government agencies, energy companies, and key industry partners.
What you will do:
- Strategic Planning & Market Analysis:
- Develop and execute business development strategies to penetrate new markets and expand the company’s nuclear energy portfolio.
- Conduct market research to identify potential business opportunities, including new projects, partnerships, and emerging trends.
- Assess competitive landscapes and market dynamics, providing recommendations for growth.
- Partnerships & Client Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including nuclear energy providers, government entities, and regulatory bodies.
- Lead client meetings, negotiations, and presentations to secure partnerships and contracts.
- Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, regulatory, finance) to ensure business development initiatives align with company goals.
- Proposal Development & Contract Negotiation:
- Develop detailed proposals, project outlines, and financial models for prospective clients and partners.
- Lead contract negotiations and ensure compliance with industry regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
- Ensure that all proposals meet client expectations and align with the company’s operational capabilities.
- Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge:
- Stay updated on nuclear regulatory policies, safety standards, and compliance requirements (e.g., CNSC, NRC regulations, IAEA guidelines, etc…).
- Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure all business development activities adhere to relevant laws and regulations.
- Financial Management & Reporting:
- Develop and manage budgets related to business development activities.
- Provide regular reports on BD activities, including pipeline status, revenue forecasts, and market analysis.
- Ensure that financial objectives and KPIs for business development are met.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal teams, including technical, engineering, and project management departments, to ensure the feasibility and delivery of new projects.
- Work with marketing teams to develop and execute campaigns that raise awareness of the company’s nuclear energy capabilities.
Required Skills and Experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Nuclear Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred);
- 10+ years of experience working in a related capacity or an equivalent combination of education and related experience;
- Knowledge of nuclear technology, power generation, and relevant industry regulations;
- Simulation technology savvy, with preference for knowledge in Orchid® simulation environment;
- Proven track record of securing, supporting the sale of and/or managing large-scale contracts in the energy or power sectors, particularly in nuclear;
- Strong financial acumen with experience in proposal development, contract negotiations, and project financing;
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills;
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders;
- Knowledge of international nuclear standards and regulations (e.g., ANSI-3.5, IAEA).
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal;
- Strong analytical, problem solving and root cause analysis skills;
- Strong presentation skills;
- Nuclear plant simulation insider with knowledge of competition and market dynamics;
- Experience with nuclear reactor technologies, fuel cycle, or decommissioning projects;
- Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools (e.g., financial modeling, CRM systems);
- Strong network within the nuclear industry;
- Exhibits sound judgment and professionalism in all situations;
- Good knowledge of MS Office suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Fully bilingual, French and English.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
