Job Title: Lead - International Business Development (Africa)

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to expand the company's market presence in Africa, specifically in defense and aerospace sectors.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, securing contracts and forming partnerships with government entities, defense contractors, and key stakeholders in the region.
- Cultivate long-term relationships with local clients, government agencies, and partners to ensure sustained business success in Africa.
- Drive business development by aligning local market trends with the company's international growth objectives.
- Oversee proposal submissions, bids, and RFPs for defense and aerospace projects within Africa.
- Monitor and analyze geopolitical trends, market developments, and competitor activities in the African defense sector to uncover business opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to local regulations and industry standards in all business dealings across African markets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., legal, finance, marketing) to adapt strategies for the African market.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the regional business development team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on achieving business goals.
- Represent the company at regional industry events, trade shows, and meetings to promote business development initiatives in Africa.
Skills Required:
- Market Strategy & Growth: Expertise in strategic planning, market expansion, and business growth within the African defense and aerospace sectors.
- Stakeholder Management: Advanced skills in client engagement, relationship building, and long-term partnerships with local government and industry stakeholders.
- Regional Knowledge & Compliance: Strong understanding of African defense regulations, legal compliance, and industry standards.
- Contract Negotiation & Management: Expert proficiency in negotiating complex contracts and managing associated risks in Africa.
- Competitive Intelligence: Advanced ability in market research, geopolitical analysis, and competitor monitoring to support business growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, International Relations, or a related field.
- 10-15 years of experience in business development, preferably within the African defense or aerospace market.
- Proven track record of driving business growth and securing large-scale contracts in Africa.
- In-depth understanding of local market dynamics, geopolitical factors, and regulatory requirements within the African defense industry.
- Fluency in local languages, along with proficiency in English or French, is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with an ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
- Experience in cross-functional team management and strategic development for African markets.
- Knowledge of export regulations, international trade laws, and compliance standards for defense products.
